Dv6700 Microphone Driver

This is my first time posting here, so please be gentle, folks

Anyway, the problem started when I re-installed a Windows 7 OS 32-bit, I believe on my HP Pavilion dv6700 with Product Number KN947UA ABA this Monday. I was able to download all the usual stuff--Windows Cleaner, VLC Player, etc.--but when it came to installing an audio driver, the unit just won t accept the installation of the program I downloaded.

As I recall, I didn t have this problem when I first started installing Windows 7 on my Notebook; I was able to download and install a RealTek program--I didn t know what version it was, but it just ran without a hitch on the Notebook.

I know I m not the only one who has this problem here; please believe me when I say that I ve tried some two or three links here already that are supposed to install the necessary audio driver for a Windows 7-enabled HP Pavilion dv6700 but, to my chagrin, none of the programs just won t get recognized by my unit. I m not even planning write a post here, but it seemed like I have no choice on the matter anymore--I badly need help.

I would be very appreciative for any kind of suggestion you guys can throw my way. Thanks.

Pc Envy TS m6 Sleekbook w/ Touch Smart and Windows 8.1 up to date

The microphone is not working, I tried another mic pugged in through usb and it too had those problems. Tried another program. So I think its the driver obviously. Im not getting any errors though in devices, Both are enabled. Unless its the sound card.  Any suggestions.

I am an Amateur Radio operator. I have a device that hooks to the sound card, and my radio that allows me to use the computer to send and receive messages on the radio bands.

This laptop has only one audio port for a headset. I need 2 ports, one for speaker and one for mic, like older laptops.

Is there an adapter abailable that will allow me to plug the 2 connectors into this laptop.

This is a used PC that my daughter gave me in Dec 2013.  It had windows Vista 64 on it and the sound was not working.  I updated drivers and the sound started to work.  While I was updating other software from HP and MS it stopped working again.  After all drivers and SW was up-to-date it still did not work.  Still Win Vista 64.

I re-installed audio drivers from HP the same that was on my pc because I had to replace files already on the machine it worked until it went into sleep or hibernate.  When I turned the pc back on it didn t have the audio device again.

I upgraded to Win 7 64 and had the same senario happen again.  First sound ok then after a shutdown to install updates no audio.  Finisted all updates and sometimes had sound sometimes no sound.

Installed Win 8 and Win 8.1 current OS still no reliable sound on pc.  Now it s there, now it s not.

The only thing I haven t tryed is puting a flavor of Linux on this platform to see if that solves the problem but I really dont want to.

This is what the Device Manager is showing

Thanks,

This is what the device manager shows when Show Hidden devices is selected in the more options view menu.

Is there a possible hardware connection problem with HP laptops that I can pursue.  I know everything is not always sw related.

My computer is the HP Compaq nx6110 Notebook, and the operating system I use is Windows XP.

There seems to be an audio problem with my laptop. No sound is coming from it.

I checked my device manager and it comes up with an exclamation mark within a yellow circle by the subheading: SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio.

Also I checked my control panel and had a look at the Sound and Audio Devices. Under the hardware tab I clicked on the SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. For that it comes up with the Device Status as: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. Code 39

I don t have a copy of the CD to re-download the hardware back on to my laptop. Furthermore I tried searching online to find one but wasn t sure which would be suited for my laptop.

I tired using system restore however this did not correct the problem.

What can be done to solve this problem.

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC and my sound is not working i tried to download this file and it did not work i would appreciate it if you could help

Enter your device manager.

Can be found by pressing windowskey x.

Press Sound, video and game controllers.

And right click and remove the one called Realtek high definition should be something like that.

Reboot the computer, this should make it reinstalll the driver på itself.

If this doesn t work, search for the program called recovery manager. In here you pick the one furthest to the left, called something with reinstall driver. Here you find the one called IDT High-Definition HD Audio Driver check it, and press install.

Since it used to work, and you dont have windows 8.1. If this still doesn t fix it, it must be some setting regarding your microphone. So try right clicking your speaker icon down in the right corner, when in desktop mode and pick recording units translating directly from danish. Please let me know what you see in here.

Best regards

Codered161,

Welcome to the HP Forum.

The procedure you performed on the notebook is called the Hard Reset.   This procedure can help when the underlying cause of the problem is an entanglement of the device driver software, that is, a mess up in the way the computer is accessing the software programs it uses to operate the hardware stuff attached to the computer. Assuming your notebook really does have a webcam, then you can test it and make sure it works as expected.

Built in webcam looks like a tiny camera and is located above the top edge of the computer screen as it is facing you.  The webcam is not a rectangle, it is a tiny camera eye.   If you see a blank area or a cover box that is rectangular in shape, or anything other than a tiny camera lens, then your notebook does not have a webcam.

You did not tell us your Operating System so I will provide the information for both Windows 8 and for Windows 7.

The documents are called Troubleshooting -- they will also help you figure out how to test and use the webcam.

Webcam Troubleshooting Windows 8

Webcam Troubleshooting Windows 7

IF you do have a Webcam built into your notebook

AND if you find that you do need to install the driver software for the webcam,

then here is a document to help tell you how to do that:

Open the file Click on Download Click Open in Adobe Reader

Install Webcam

If, after you test everything, and do everything, the webcam still does not work, you may need to consider that the webcam is broken:  tiny broken wires can loosen, can disconnect, or become crushed where they pass through the hinge area.  There is NO software fix for this.  You must have the notebook serviced if the webcam is broken.    Webcam wires can break at any time:  right after they are manufactured, three months later, seven years later -- there is NO set time frame for broken webcam wires.

Because your notebook is brand new, you may also have the option to return it for another notebook.

Click the Kudos Thumbs-Up.

It is a nice way to say Thank You for the help.

Although I strive to reflect HP s best practices, I do not work for HP.

Hi,

Try the following.

Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, shut down the notebook and perform a Hard Reset for your Model as described in the HP document Here.

When done, tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key , use the arrow keys to select Yes and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select Yes and hit enter.

Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select Run as Administrator to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click Speakers and Headphones once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

Regards,

DP-K

The sound is very low, is that correct.

Have you tried uninstalling the sound drivers from device manager and checking the box for removing the software. If you have not try that step and restart the computer for it to automatically reinstall the driver.

-----------How do I give Kudos. How do I mark a post as Solved. ----------------

I have an HP Pabilion dv6 6167cl Entertainment PC running Windows 7, purchased about 16 months ago.

Problem 1:

Yesterday, I updated some drivers for USB and sound CODEX.  I currently have no sound from either the speakers or the headphone jacks.  Previously had both.   Since lose of sound, I ve rolled the Audex drive to the previous version and restored PC to a time earlier than driver updates -  Still no sound.  I ve gone through all the online HP steps to identify the problem, as well as those on the user help site.

Problem 2:

Also recently have noticed that DVD and video files . WMV that previously played on Windows Media Player on this laptop would no longer play.  Got alert that Windows Media Player could not play this file.  DVDs and files play fine on Windows Media Player on other laptops.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lil_Lisa

Thanks for the link.  I had previously tried everything in the document No Sound from the Speakers Windows 7, before I asked for help.  I went through your link again and did every test and update from Steps 1 through 9.  I had previously also done Step 10 Testing for Hardware Failure.  I have some limited success, but generally sound from audio CD will not play from speakers or headphones.  Before doing any suggested activities, I noticed I hear message You ve got mail through the speakers when i opened my AOL email account.

In Step 3: Checking the volume and mute settings, I did get sound in headphones but not speakers when I clicked the volume slider bar.  Didn t happen all the time, however.

In Step 4: Setting default speakers and test.  When I clicked TEST button, got message Error:  Failed to play test tone.

In Step 7: Restoring the audio driver.  I reinstalled the original driver and got a ding sound in headphones, but tried again and nothing from speakers.

In Step 8: I updated the audio driver to Version 6.10.6482.0 6/3/2013.   After rebooting PC, got Windows opening dings in headphones.  Rebooted again and got same sounds from speakers.

Tried playing an audio CD, but got no sound from speakers or headphones.

So don t know what to try next.
